Trading Systems Engineer

Job Description
· This engineer will be responsible for our trading systems.
· Work with other members of the team to keep trade systems operational 24x5 and quickly respond to any production issues that arise.
· Optimize systems and implement appropriate new technology to deliver continuous improvement in trade system performance.
· Design, develop and implement a monitoring system for performance analysis, capacity planning and real-time alerting.
· Administer Linux and Windows trading applications and the servers they run on.
· Work with the Networking team to analyze network utilization and traffic patterns.
· Communicate with exchanges as needed to resolve issues
· Provide support off-hours and remotely when needed.
· Maintain and improve systems documentation.
· Assist other team members.
Experience
· Minimum 2 years experience supporting trading systems such as TT, GL, proprietary trading software, etc.
· At least 2 years experience in high performance computing and low-latency, high-volume message based applications.
· Minimum 2 years experience monitoring and reducing latency in trading systems.
· Experience administering both Linux and Windows systems is preferred.

Knowledge
Deep understanding of systems architecture, including networks, operating systems (Linux, Solaris, Windows) and application development (C++).
Expert knowledge of electronic trading systems.
Expert knowledge of network technology such as TCP/IP and Multicast.
Strong knowledge of FIX protocol.
Knowledge of troubleshooting back-end application issues, including but not limited to, exchange Gateways, TT WAN Routing and remote connections, network related problems and exchange connectivity issues.
Expert knowledge of Linux Red Hat update 4 and above.
Understands Windows XP professional and 2003 server to registry level.
Intermediate knowledge of desktop productivity tools such as Excel and Visio.
Knowledge of Shell scripting, Perl Python, or other scripting languages is required.
Self motivated with strong critical thinking skills and inquisitive mind with a strong desire to learn and excel.

Education
B.S. degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related discipline is required.
